The names behind Bush are the several hundred men and women of the U.S Armed Services who gave their lives fighting the "war" in Iraq.
Understandably, writing 924 names took quite some time, so I apologize for not being able to post this sooner.
Being that I feel this work speaks for itself, I will leave the room open for comments with just a few reminders:
1. Over 1,000 Federal benefits are denied to LGBT citizens simply because they cannot legally marry;
2. The Bush administration is currently working on legislation that would:
a)make safe abortions illegal (even for a woman whose pregnancy risks her life);
b) illegalize the "over the counter" selling of contraceptive methods such as condoms and dental dams; and
c) Make women's personal and confidential medical histories PUBLIC and FREE FOR INSPECTION (how would you like it if say, oh, your professor at school searched google for your results ona recent gynecologist visit- and presented it to your class the next day?)
2. No one has the right to complain about anything unless they vote for change. If you are 18, go out and vote as if your LIFE DEPENDED ON IT- because if you are a WOMAN, it does; and
3. The Bush Administration has a "Global Gag Law" in effect - any third world country relying on American Monetary Aid that uses the funds to provide even one woman with an abortion to save her life will be denied such funds. Also, the Bush Administration has cut back domestic HIV/AIDS research and funding per state by nearly half of their previous alottments.
FOR EXAMPLE--for the state of North Carolina, HIV/AIDS funding from the CDC for prevention programs at universities such as UNC was $4,724,056 in 1996- in 2003, it totaled less than $2,599,000.
One vote CAN make a difference. Think of it this way- say you never vote. Take that one vote and multiply it by the average 15 counties per state. That's 150 votes per state, and 7500 votes nationwide.
Bush won by less that 5,000 votes in November 2000. Think of what the outcome would have been had those 7500 voted.
awww pool stick...you can do many fun things with those. hmm. now i wanna play pool. LOL. we need a pool table for our future lesbica home! heh heh. a big'un.

I agree with your stance on abortion and on the sale of contraceptives, those things have no place in politics in my opinion. However, as liberal as you all seem to be, have you not considered the millions that had perished unthinkable deaths under a dictator equal to that of Stalin or Hitler? And even though the premise in which we invaded Iraq was debatable (weapons of mass destruction), are you completely numb to the fact that all of those TRULEY oppressed people are now free? Perhaps we indeed did invade Iraq for oil, (as laughable as that opinion is), does that make the Iraqi people's democracy any less sweeter? And as for the soldiers, they were not drafted. They hopefully know that by joining any branch of the military (voluntarily I might add) they are putting their lives on the line. We invaded an entire country, and have only lost 924 people. That might sound horrible, but think of all the previous wars, in which people were involuntarily drafted into service (WWII, Korea, Vietnam ect.) and in which thousands, if not millions lost thier lives. 924 Americans to liberate a race of people who have lost MILLIONS to a fascist dictator... by the sound of things it would seem that maybe you value American lives over those of other nations, making you a complete failure as a liberal. And the part on the poster about winning by 5000 votes, ever heard of an electoral college? Unless that is the popular vote, in which sadly Gore won. So that leaves a pretty obvious statistical error on your part, or the possibility that you just made it up. Just thought Id shed some light on the subject. Good luck with the whole lesbian thing!

How you know where I’m at when you haven’t been where I’ve been? Understand where I’m coming from?

Hi, thank you standing up for Women's Rights as well as your other opinions, and while I dont agree with most of them, I thank you for checking out my work.
First, drafting would suck, yes, and I completely understand that we have a volunteer military. My one grandfather came home from ww2 nearly insane and the other one- My Marine grandfather, who came home with nearly half his skull missing, was stationed at Pearl Harbor, caught malaria in New Zealand, was part of the firs t Marine Division invading Guadalcanal (one of the single-most important battels in the Pacific Theater), and was blown off a gas depot by an enemy sniper that missed his mark, so I think i quite understand well the cost of war. Hell even my GRANDMOTHER served in both the Marines as a Sergeant and in the National Guard. Will you serve?
924 deaths in a battle is quite finite when compared to the millions lost between both world wars, but there is a difference here -CONGRESS DECLARED WAR IN BOTH WORLD WARS; THEY DID NOT AGAINST IRAQ. In the United States Of America, according to the Constitution, Congress shall be the only body of government allowed to declare a state of war upon another nation. Not a person, not a president, but a representative body of the will of the people in the 50 states constituting the existence of this country.
Secondly, any price for the liberation of any opressed people is well worth the sacrifice, yes. And don't for a minute believe that I oppose the capture of Hussein, because believe me, I am glad that the world is rid of one more nuke-nut. What I do have a problem with is that our men and women are still over there BEING KILLED BY THE PEOPLE THEY LIBERATED. If you were to study the casualty reports, you will see that 80% of the deaths and injuries debted to the War On Iraq happened after President Bush announced last May that the "main combat was over".
Third, unless you can prove to me with concrete evidence stating otherwise, dont tell me my statistics are wrong. I work with statistics all the time and quote from reliable and noteworthy sources that I trust. I am not above apologizing if any mistakes have been made, I am simply defending the information I have been given. And for someone to also imply that I MAKE UP STATISTICS, well, you better have some DAMN good evidence proving that I am guilty of such a crime.
Fourth, the Electoral College is an antiqauted voting procedure dating back to the late 1700's/early 1800's, when the presidency was to never be left to the hands of the masses as in a pure democracy. The first presidents were appointed by aristocrats, not elected by the people of the country. Not until 1820s, with the rise of Andrew Jackson, did popular voting have a role in the selection of the president. The founding fathers of this nation intended the electoral college to be used to ensure that educated persons were making educated decisions. In this day and age where nearly 90% of registered, active voters are literate and are aware of the issues each candidate espouses, the need for such a college is obviously ridiculous in nature and just another smokescreen to add confusion.
I value any life as if it were my own. Not one person can tell me or anyone else otherwise. To implicate, sir, that I value only American life disgusts and insults me. I have lost too many of some of the closest people in my life to have such an implication directed towards me.
Finally, all I ask for you to do in the next 3 years it will be until you get to vote for the first time is to read. Read everything. If you are going to question politics, understand the Constitution. If you are going to back an electoral procedure, understand its history and discover its original purpose. I say this not to insult you, but to advise you, for if someone had advised me to do the same at your age, my first time voting would have been a lot easier.
Thank you. chiantiDYKE

When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
